The King's cut is an old cut that has been neglected by the present day cutters. It has a large number of facets (with 49 facets on the crown and 36 facets on the pavilion, making the total of 85 facets) , thus returning good brilliance. It falls a few facets short of being classified as a multi-facet brilliant. Except for the shape of the star facets, it is much like the twelve-fold version of the standard round brilliant. It's one of the classics of the good old days!
